July 23, 30, August 6 & 13 | 1-4 pm
In this workshop, you'll learn to "loosen up" and paint more freely while diving deeper into color mixing, brush strokes and composition under the guidance of local artist Doreen Currie (if you've been in our Gallery, you've seen her beautiful landscape paintings). Doreen teaches from still life set ups and photographs - landscapes of fields and farms, woods and streams, flowers, baskets of fruit, etc - in an impressionistic style. Rather than paint in a form of copying and exactness, she tries to get her own feelings and style into her work as well as capture the beauty of Pennsylvania in all four seasons. You'll spend two weeks working from photographs provided by the artist and two weeks working from still life set-ups.
Doreen is happy to work with beginners, but please note that this workshop is designed for someone with a little experience in oil painting, and might be too fast-paced for someone without any knowledge of the medium. Please bring your own materials--no materials are provided except for paper towels and wipes. Our Art Center has a water cooler available, but feel free to bring your own water/drink for during the class.
