This fall, the flames of history will dance once again at the Compass Inn Museum! Join us for our much-anticipated Bonfire Celebration: An Old English Tradition, an unforgettable evening where firelight, tradition, music, and legends come alive. Inspired by the centuries-old British tradition of Guy Fawkes Night, this unique celebration transports guests back to the sights, sounds, and flavors of the 19th century. Wander through the historic Compass Inn by candlelight, explore the museum grounds, gather around crackling fires, and savor the rich aromas of traditional “Old English” bonfire fare. Warm up with a cup of hot cider or sample a historic tavern drink as you experience an autumn evening unlike any other. New This Year: The Celebration Begins at 3:30 PM! We’re kicking off the festivities earlier this year with an afternoon packed with historic fun for the whole family. Beginning at 3:30 PM, guests can enjoy: Tours of the historic Compass Inn Museum Bonfire-themed crafts and activities And much more! As the afternoon fades into evening, the celebration takes on a magical new glow. At 5:30 PM, we’ll light the bonfire and officially welcome the evening festivities! Historic tavern drinks will be available, and we’ll introduce our live musical entertainment for the night: Jeff Bell & Amy Clark! Throughout the celebration, discover the fascinating and fateful story of Guy Fawkes and the events behind the famous British tradition of “Remember, Remember the 5th of November.” Learn how this centuries-old observance evolved into a beloved celebration filled with bonfires, food, fellowship, and remembrance. Feeling hungry? Traditional Bonfire Fare will be available to sample throughout the event, while the Waterford VFD food truck will be on site offering heartier meal options for purchase.
