Description

This class at Main Exhibit Gallery & Art Center, led by instructor Clair F. Maier (BA in Studio Art, Saint Vincent College), is designed exclusively for students who have already taken Clair's beginner class in oil painting. In this continuation, we'll continue right where we left off and cover several important tips and techniques for completing paintings, as well as begin a new painting to refresh on the basics. Students with learn how to sign, varnish, and frame their originals from the previous course (framing will consist of a lesson which students can apply at home). We'll also cover how to tighten a loose canvas and how to prep a surface using gesso, while continuing our discussion of color, value, proportions, and measuring to help you create another beautiful finished painting! Class time will range from short instruction and brief exercises to sessions of working on individual projects.
