Wheel Pottery for Beginners
Thursday, October 12, 2023 (5:30 PM - 8:30 PM) (EDT)
Description
In this seven-week beginner class held at Main Exhibit Gallery & Art Center, pottery instructor Sandra Buerklin will teach centering on the wheel and cover basic throwing techniques. Students will explore ceramic forms as they make cups, bowls and other vessels, alter thrown pieces, and make and attach handles to mugs and pots. Sandra will guide students in creativity while helping each student establish and work towards their goals in beginner ceramics. This class is also perfect for those who have already taken a wheel pottery class (here or elsewhere) but would like to review and expand their technique. After the 5th wheel session, instructor Mandy Sirofchuck will teach a trimming class to help students finish up any pots they've already made to prep for a bisque-firing (first firing) in our kiln. The final session will consist of glazing bisqued pieces. They'll then be fired and ready for pickup, typically in about 2 weeks! Registration and prepayment is required.
